Aircraft may be registered in Barbados by the applicant submitting a completed Form DCA ADM-004 Application for Registration of Aircraft, providing proof of ownership and paying the applicable fee as laid out in the Schedule of Fees. Applicants should consult the office of the Director of Civil Aviation for further advice prior to commencing the registration process.

Regulation 5. of the Civil Aviation (Air Navigation) Regulations 1984, states that an application for the grant of registration of an aircraft may be approved if: (a) the aircraft is owned by (i) the Government, (ii) a citizen of Barbados, or (iii) a body incorporated under the Companies Act or in a Commonwealth country or a Contracting State and having its principal place of business in Barbados or in another Commonwealth country or Contracting State.

An application for an Air Operator Certificate may be made by completing a Form DCA ADM-001 Application for an Air Operator Certificate. However, there is a five phase process that must be followed prior to the issuance of an AOC. Therefore applicants should first contact the office of the Director of Civil Aviation in order that the process may be explained in detail.

A standard is any specification for physical characteristics, configuration, material, performance, personnel or procedure, the uniform application of which is recognized as necessary for safety or regularity of international air navigation and to which Contracting States will conform in accordance with the Convention; in the event on impossibility of compliance, notification to the Council is compulsory under Article 38. A recommended practice is any specification for physical characteristics, configuration, material, performance, personnel or procedure, the uniform application of which is recognized as desirable in the interest of safety, regularity or efficiency of international air navigation and to which Contracting States will endeavor to conform in accordance with the Convention.
